Gratitude for Everyday Leaders
Calm your mind. Improve your memory. Boost your energy.
The Gratitude Trifecta
Write. Appreciate. Recalibrate.
This workshop series for individuals is offered online and introduces participants to the power of keeping a journal that moves away from rumination, into the realm of creative reframing, motivating you to take action.
Did you know? A good gratitude practice has a range of side effects which may include:
- Improved social relationships
- An energy boost
- Increased self-confidence and self-acceptance
- Decrease in levels of stress and overwhelm
- Calmer mood
- Better quality and improved sleep
- Greater resiliency and self-awareness
With guidance and empathy, facilitator and master journal writer, Lorraine Widmer-Carson, introduces participants to the powerful connections that come from exploring the links between words, thoughts, emotions, and memories. By writing with a pen and paper, you can cultivate your personal writing practice that is relevant and sustainable for you in your world. Over time, you gain confidence, clarity and appreciation for all of your things that really matter.
Write Here. Write Now.
Micro-mini resets
Invite author, facilitator and master journal writer, Lorraine Widmer-Carson, to introduce your group to the power of writing, including the idea of “micro-journaling”. With a quick check-in and prompts to find a more grateful mindset, moods shift, calmer feelings arise, and teams can recalibrate with a fresher focus.
In this 2 hour workshop, your team will enjoy a simple pause in order to write from the heart, reflect on the things that are going well, acknowledge the challenge and plan accordingly. Using time-tested tools that are old school simple, this original workshop relies on science and lived experience giving participants permission to unplug their devices, focus their thoughts and consider some mental shift work.
Outcomes Include: Calmer minds. Improved energy. Reduced stress. Greater insight, clarity, and confidence. Respect and understanding for individual strengths and priorities.
Lorraine Widmer-Carson, Workshop Facilitator
Lorraine Widmer-Carson has been honing her writing practice for 30 years and is ready to inspire your journey with her practical knowledge. A master journal writer and community advocate, Lorraine believes in the transformative power of gratitude, and is convinced that people who take time to reflect on the good things in life are more resilient, creative, and confident in every area of life—including their self-awareness that nurtures humility and grace. With gratitude, leaders are poised to deepen relationships, strengthen their levels of social, emotional, spiritual attachment and act with quiet humility.
“Gratitude is a human bonding agent—it’s a glue and adhesive that can patch up cracks, improve connections and help us grow into stronger, kinder, more confident leaders.”
- Lorraine Widmer-Carson
A Bow Valley resident for over 40 years, Lorraine has built her life around appreciation of nature, love of family and commitment to community. Supportive of and supported by her wide circles of friendships, she draws inspiration from the place that she calls home, fully aware that she resides on lands that are part of Treaty 7 of southern Alberta. Living in a townsite located inside Canada’s oldest national park, Lorraine has worked with nonprofits and organizations that serve the community, including social and environmental causes, while revelling in the majesty of wild landscapes that surround her.
When she’s not skiing, hiking, or exploring secret spots with her grandchildren, Lorraine and her Swiss-Canadian husband, Erwin, remember fondly the people who supported their years of operating Ticino Swiss Italian Restaurant, 1979 – 2023.
With gratitude,
In the Words of Participants
“I participated in Lorraine’s first Gratitude Trifecta workshops for leaders looking to lean into journaling and the practice of giving thanks as strategies for focusing on what truly matters in my work, and in my life. I loved it. Thank you, Lorraine, for this incredible opportunity to build my own capacity as a leader centred in gratitude.“
— Michelle Schira Hagerman, Professor, Faculty of Education, University of Ottawa
“This series was one of the most sincere, deep and honest conversations that I have ever had with myself, a true reflection of my being and surroundings. The strength of the bond of trust and the understanding of the new gratitude community from just a few hours together went beyond what I thought was possible… You have made a lifetime of difference for me, Lorraine. So much gratitude an happiness for this project.”
— Participant, Gratitude Trifecta Series, Fall 2023
“A good journal habit that incorporates gratitude can get me ready for whatever the world is about to deliver. Some days, it can get crazy trying to balance family, projects, and personal time with the needs of my team. Writing longhand and remembering the positives helps me rebound and recalibrate with greater clarity, even when facing significant challenges.”
